Europa Health News May 16, Milebot Robotics officially announced to the outside world that it has completed the PRE-A round of financing led by share investment, Lenovo Venture Capital and investment of tens of millions of yuan. Earlier, Milebot Robot received an angel wheel investment in April 2017.

Milebot Robotics , founded in September 2016, is a company focusing on the research, development, production and marketing of medical rehabilitation robots such as lower limb rehabilitation exoskeleton robots and human-computer interaction technology. It was founded by Chen Gong (CEO), Ye Jing (CTO) and Hu Feng (COO). There are many kinds of medical rehabilitation robot products including BEAR-H1, which mainly help hemiplegic patients get the opportunity of gait rehabilitation training by using new flexible driver, human-computer interaction motion control, powered six joints and new sensor combination algorithm.

After this round of financing, on the one hand, Milebot Robotics will further increase investment in product development and clinical experiments, on the other hand, it will also accelerate the market layout and the introduction of high-end talents.

According to the Prospective Industry Research Institute’s “China Rehabilitation Medical Industry Development Prospects and Investment Forecast Analysis Report”, the scale of China’s rehabilitation medical market reached about 27 billion yuan in 2016, and with the further reform of medical services in China, it is predicted that the scale of China’s rehabilitation medical market will exceed 70 billion yuan by 2020. However, there is a contradiction between supply and demand. At present, China’s rehabilitation medical field mainly adopts the manual one-to-one training method. This method not only fails to standardize the rehabilitation process, but also makes professional rehabilitation professionals scarce in China, and the efficiency of hospital treatment needs to be improved, which can not meet the needs of the market.

Faced with the existing problems, exoskeleton robots can effectively standardize the whole process of rehabilitation and improve the efficiency of rehabilitation with the help of intelligent technologies such as robots, Internet of Things, big data and so on. It is worth mentioning that the core technology of stepping robot products is flexible actuator. Compared with the rigid actuator used in existing exoskeleton robot products, there are some elastic elements in the flexible actuator, which can achieve accurate and stable force feedback control, and improve the comfort and safety of patients during rehabilitation. At the same time, the exoskeleton robot of the walking robot implants many sensors, which can monitor the human motion in real time, and then use artificial intelligence algorithm to analyze the gait characteristics of patients, so as to provide different degrees of help for patients.

In addition, compared with other exoskeleton products of the same kind, Milebot Robotics also has an advantage that it has six joints, which not only makes the patient’s walking more flexible, but also plays a vital role in achieving better rehabilitation effect and more natural gait.

Milebot Robotics has been favored by many investment institutions in a short period of one and a half years since its establishment. “Sharing investment is a typical VC, and the core logic of sharing medical investment is to base on the front, face the future and discover innovation,” said Huang Fan, a partner of sharing investment in this round of financing and leading investment. The exoskeleton robots with flexible actuators of walking robots fully conform to this core logic, and their products have great potential in the rehabilitation market. At the same time, founding a professional, efficient and pragmatic team is also a key factor that investors value.

At the same time, Lenovo Venture Capital, the leader of the first round, which continues to make additional investments, also said: “In addition to market potential, the more important thing is the technology accumulation of the stepping robot team. Dr. Chen Gong and Dr. Ye Jing have been engaged in the interdisciplinary research of the combination of robotics and medical rehabilitation. Hu Feng has been engaged in the robot industry for many years, and has rich experience in the robot market. The control algorithm and engineering implementation of the core technology of walking robot are very difficult, and the barriers are strong, and the flexible driver can also be used as the core component to enable other industries and fields, which is also the scalability that other similar teams do not have. And the additional investment is because in a short year, we have seen changes in the team, even exceeded expectations. We have achieved excellent results in terms of goal accomplishment, product iteration, team combat effectiveness and business development.

Dr. Chen Gong said that he had a very clear plan for future development. On the one hand, Milebot Robotics will take the exoskeleton rehabilitation robot as the carrier to build an intelligent rehabilitation system, so that more patients can get advanced rehabilitation treatment. On the other hand, Milebot Robotics also hopes to put forward more solutions in the field of human-computer interaction based on its core technology.
